May 6, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform will hold a Full Committee Field Hearing entitled, ”Pathways to Energy Independence: Hydraulic Fracturing and Other New Technologies” in Bakersfield, CA?

The “witnesses” at this hearing appear to be mostly oil and gas PR people, such as one William Whitsitt, Ph.D. who is Devon Energy‘s Executive VP of Public Affairs. Public Affairs means PR, as I understand it.

I’m always game to verify someone’s doctorate, so I took to Dissertation Abstracts to check out Willliam Whitsitt’s doctoral dissertation, done at George Washington University in Public Administration, and which is entitled “The value-added tax in the United States: A policy window model examination of regressivity as a policy agenda impediment.” We’ll see how he and the others who testify come off, assuming we can get a video of this.
