Apparently, President Obama is going to support more offshore drilling for oil. This seems like a bad idea. I’ve been to coastal Louisiana with oil derricks in sight. The water looked nasty and nobody would swim there. Goodbye coastal tourism?
Then again, as sea level rises, our concept of what is a beach will alter. Maybe people won’t even want to get near the coasts if the sea encroaches and causes damage in the process.
With this move, Obama appears to be on the jobs creation bandwagon again, while also building support among conservatives for climate change legislation.
