The entrepreneurs are very busy in the area of oil-from-algae. There’s a huge cast of characters involved in this effort, which I really do hope pans out, but which I think still has significant technical challenges to overcome.
This field is an interesting microcosm of many aspects of our age. One way to make money off of the oil-from-algae phenomenon (to some it is a craze) is to sell some books.
This ebook, Making Biodiesel at Home, is an interesting example. As the website says, “Create our own algal lab for pennies.” The ebook “package” costs $99, however.
