Bottled water is in the news again.  The Miami Herald and other news outlets are running an AP report about pending recommendations by the Government Accountability Office and the Environmental Working Group

that bottled water be labeled with the same level of information municipal water providers must disclose.

Reports by these organizations about these recommendations are pending. However, the Environmental Working Group published an article in October 2008 with results from analyzing a number of bottled water samples, and these results undoubtedly are behind their upcoming report.

But there may be an untold, related story here. What about the safety of soda sold in similar bottles? Soda is nothing but bottled water with other stuff mixed in. It would be interesting to subject soda and other drinks (juices, etc.) produced from various water sources to the same analytical tests, to see what we see.
